Hi all! So awhile ago I purchased a Black Crystal. I don't believe its Onyx or Jet---for mine is more a "matte" black with gray blocks of color. It's beautiful and I DO know that it was supposed to "ground" and "protect," but for the life of me---I cannot figure out what it is!! My husband said he thought it was "obsidian" or something. I do not know how to post a picture, or I would include it.
Your crystal could be smokey quartz, if you take it out side and hold it up to the sun light should have some rainbows in it. I fit is black obsidian the sun light you should see color on top of the stone. It is are to say with a photo of the stone, Good luck,
The authors of Book of Stones have many of the pages from their book up on their website - Heaven and Earth - take a look at the Tibetan Black Quartz and see if that might be it.
And I recently purchased a Tibetan black quartz crystal - here is a picture:
It sounds like Obsidian. But that is like glass, and very shiney. Warriors still use it to make weapons. It is dark, grounding, and can lay a (Dark) spirit Low, The natives made Knives from it so FINE, that today with our technology, we cannot find a sharper device, this is why it is still used in eye surgery. The Natives believed that if they "Cut" the path behind them, when being followed by a dark spirit, It COULD NOT PASS. I would love to see it.
Several possibilities looks a bit more like a dark moss agate than Aventurine, Cobra Stone or Green Jasper. I have some rough jade and some rough emeralds that look a lot like the stones in the photo.
tricky tricky after going into my collection and looking at the green stones I have I found some mysterious Jade hanging loose that looks incredibly like the ones in the larger pic. The small pic is so small it makes it hard to try and identify.
So…
