used in the removal of energy blockages and to strengthen the meridians of the physical body, such that one becomes aligned with the perfection of
the ethereal body.
It serves to increase the awareness of ones individuality whUe aUowing one to
maintain association with humanity.
It enhances contact with the etheric bodies and stimulates the crown chakra toward
spirituality. It can also create altered states of consciousness and can serve as a
vehicle for both reaching and utUizing the talents and abilities of the mind. AU of
the psychic abilities can be stimulated and amplified via the use of these consoUdated
energies. In addition, it provides for ampUfication of the entire energy field of the
body.
It has also been used by healers in the European countries for both diagnostic healing
and communicating with the spirits. It acts to improve disorders of the heart and to
help one to recover from those disorders associated with diminished physical vitality.used in the treatment of disorders of the kidneys and bladder. In
ancient times it was used as a peniciUin-type remedy, ground and ingested or soaked
[as in an elixir] and subsequently drunk. It has also been used to provide
rejuvenating energy to those recovering from hospitaUzation, and to stimulate cellular
renewal.

Lovely Amber, no mystery with this one
Amber: This fossil resin, (tree sap) is most often golden yellow or brown, it promotes healing by transmuting negative energy into positive energy it is calming and cheering. Promotes active intellect in harmony with love and compassion in daily life. and helps to promote honesty and purify and clear rooms. Beneficial to the nervous system and self healing. Amber is one of the stones that is often imitated or reconstituted or altered so one must be very careful when buying it. Who can resist the frozen honey and golden light of AMBER ? it is natures stone and the stone of ancient memories and connection with the animal and plant spirits it is a stone of fluidity echoed in the flow patterns of the pertrified tree sap.One of the Sun stones a power bringer in a way amber embodies the elements Fire Because Amber will burn and is the essense of light, warmthand flame, Earth, because it is the pretrified product of ancient trees existing because of natural growth, water because sap is the equivalent of blood and the river of life in a tree as water is the essense of life to the land and air because of the fragrance memories preserved within the flesh of the stone.

Amber is a stone which is a great All purpose and general healer and is traditionally called upon for treatment of a great number of diseases and conditions. I wore Amber for a long time and it did seem to help me with heart issues both emotional and physical, It did not however seem to have any effect on my varicose veins, another condition for which it is often listed.

Amber has long been used for treating stubborn infections and inflammations.
I have added it to a grid and made a pouch for pain particularly back pain and surgical / post surgical recovery.

Amber is perhaps the first stone I ever "worked "with. I can't have been more than four. My grandmother had a long strand of amber beads which I was told would be mine when I grew up. Apparently when I was measured someone must have said that I "grew up" because I went and retrieved the necklace from where it was kept, took it outside and apparently " gave it to the fairies" taking it apart ( it may have broken) and scattering the beads in the garden and in the creek in back of grandmothers' house. Grandma was actually pretty mellow about it but my mom was really mad!
Amber is often faked or manipulated so please be alert when selecting amber .

Real Amber will float In SALT WATER not plain tap water

I'm not sure where the below came from
Imitations and Identification of Amber
Plastics are the most common amber imitations. Plastics can be distinguished from natural amber. Celluloid is a trademarked, thermoplastic composed of cellulose nitrate and camphor. Amber imitators of celluloid and glass can be distinguished from amber by the fact that when rubbed the imitation does not become as electric and gives off the odor of camphor. When celluloid is dipped in hot water or heated, it also gives off the camphor odor. Other plastics give off the unpleasant smell of carbolic acid and no smoke. Amber heated will produce a whitish smoke and smell like burning pine wood or a sweet odor. Plastics are quickly attacked by alcohol (95% ethyl alcohol), acetone (100%), and ether; when scraped with a knife, it gives off shavings. Amber is slowly attacked by alcohol and amber powders when scraped with a knife. Amber and plastic are both warm to the touch and can be distinguished from glass which is cool to the touch and has a higher specific gravity.

A good test for separating amber and imitations is that amber will float or be buoyant in sea water or salt saturated water (about 2.5 tablespoons per 1 cup water). Imitations of amber will sink in salt water; bakelite resin has a specific gravity of 1.25-1.55 and glass imitations will sink even more quickly. Amber is identified from plastic imitations with a hot point test (hot needle held with tweezers). When the hot point touches the suspected amber in an unobtrusive place, the material will burn and give off an odor (plastics=a disinfectant type odor of camphor or carbolic acid, amber=burning pine wood). The hot point will make the plastic sticky and leave a black mark. The hot point will make amber brittle and chip off.

Amber tests

There are several clever amber imposters out on the market today, including copal and plastic. If you are buying amber jewelry from a suspicious source, there are several tests you can perform to find out if the amber is true. Try several tests to determine whether your piece is real or not.

Does it float? True amber floats in salt water. This is how it was discovered – floating on the Baltic sea. To see if your “amber” floats, dissolve two tablespoons of table salt in eight ounces of water. Drop your “amber” into the solution. If it sinks, it is not amber. If it floats, it is probably amber. This method only works if the amber is removed from its setting.

The scratch test. Real amber has a hardness of approximately 2.5 on the Moh’s scale. This is quite soft, but your fingernail alone should not be able to scratch it. Try scratching your “amber” gemstone with your fingernail. If it makes a mark, it isn’t amber. If it doesn’t make a mark, it may be amber. This is an effective test in distinguishing copal from amber, as copal is very soft can be scratched with a fingernail.

It’s electric! Amber holds a charge of static electricity and was actually used to remove lint in earlier times. To see if your “amber” is static, place some small pieces of tissue on a flat surface. Rub the amber vigorously on the carpet or with a piece of velvet until it is warm and hold it closely above the tissue pieces. If the pieces of tissue are not attracted to the specimen, it is not amber. If tissue is attracted to the specimen, it may be amber.

Does it glow? Place your “amber” specimen under a short-wave ultraviolet light. If the specimen fluoresces a pale blue under the light, it may be amber. If it doesn’t glow at all, or glows a color other than pale blue, it is not amber. Copal doesn’t fluoresce.

Pine fresh scent. Rub the specimen briskly on a piece of cloth until it gets warm, and then smell it. If it’s real amber, it should emit a mild pine or turpentine odor. If it smells like plastic or chemicals, it isn’t amber. Beware that if it has the right smell, it still may be copal.

Baby oil test. Drop your specimen into a clear glass of mineral oil (Johnson’s Baby Oil works fine). Mineral oil and amber have very similar refractive indexes. If the edges of the “amber” appear as a dark outline or light halo, the specimen is not amber. If it is difficult to distinguish the edges of the “amber”, it may be real.

Lick it. Wash the specimen with mild soapy water then rinse and dry thoroughly. Taste it – do you detect a chemical, strong, or unpleasant taste? If so, it isn’t amber. Remember, amber comes from the trees, so it shouldn’t taste unnatural or man made. If the specimen has no taste (or one that is very subtle) it may be amber.

A Bug’s Life. If your specimen contains an insect or other animal, try to have it identified. Most bugs and animals found in real amber are now extinct. If your bug is no longer on the planet, you most likely have a real piece – but beware – there have been some instances where old insects were inserted into amber imposters.

Hot, hot, hot. Is your specimen warm or cold to the touch? Amber should feel warm when handled at room temperature.

Copal has been labeled the oldest known substitute for amber and this amber imitator continues to confuse and frustrate the public and professionals. Copal has been referred to as a subfossil resin, semi-fossilized resin, an immature amber, and as a fresh, gum form of resin. Experts vary in their assessment of the age of copal, from 50 years to 1.6 million years, based on the geologic settings in which it is found and other evidence, both chemical and botanical. Commercial dealers selling specimens of copal with inclusions often state the age as several million or tens of millions of years old.
There is agreement among the experts that the inclusions in copal, when present, are of extant, not extinct, species, although some may not have been previously described in the literature. It is believed that the resin trees were and are primarily tropical legume and araucarian trees, such as Copaifera guibourthiana, Hymenacea ourbaril, Hymenacea protea, and Agathis australis or Kauri pine. Geographically, the copal is believed to be recovered today primarily from tropical latitudes and the southern hemisphere. A chemical classification has been proposed for fossil resins although the methodology involves sophisticated equipment and specialized knowledge to interpret results, which is not readily available to the public.

Thus, to conclusively delineate amber from other resins, such as copal, detailed chemical analysis, biological considerations of the inclusions, and the geologic setting in which it is found, should all be considered. Some of the tests the layperson might employ include fluorescence, specific gravity, hot flame, and testing the surface reaction to alcohol (or another solvent such as ether). However, these tests, with the exception of fluorescence, may be destructive to the specimen.

Copal has the same warm glow of amber and a wide range of inclusions, usually with remarkable preservation. Copal has many uses, from incense to varnish, and is important as an avenue in studying past life. Copal should not be misrepresented as amber, a mature fossilized resin, but marketed as copal, a fresh recent resin, with many desirable qualities of its own.
Amber is known to mineralogists as succinite

So is the Mystery stone Copal? since it is not amber? Would be almost impossible to tell from a photo ,

Reply to This

Yes, looking up the listing for Copal in Melody I see that the Mystery Stone is most likely Copal which is often sold as Amber or mistaken for Amber . I don't know about you but I have no way of knowing if the bugs caught inj my fossilized resin are from extinct species ( Amber) or existant species ( Copal) I'm pretty sure that some of the "Amber" I have is actually Copal. Copal can sometimes be found in sets of " magickal herbs " sold on EBay and in metaphysical stores as it is used as an incense
